Confidence
Posted on Saturday, March 31, 2012 | 0 Comments

If I have lost confidence in myself, I have the universe against me.
Ralph Waldo Emerson

There is a website that I frequent, called the Quotations Page. My favorite section of the website is under the "Motivational" tab. Lately there have been a lot of quotes about confidence on there and I think someone is trying to tell me something. I've been struggling with this lately (who doesn't struggle with confidence, really?), so think it's time I worked on it a little harder.

Vegas

Hello hello hello! Can I just preface this post with an expression of my gratitude for how beautiful this weather is? I love it!
But anyway, last weekend I went with some friends down to Vegas. My family was down there for their Spring break, and since we don't get one here at BYU, we thought it would be the opportune moment to create our own. Fortunately my friends were able to hold their own against my family. The mark of either a true friend... or the same level of insanity.

To Dad
Posted on Monday, March 19, 2012 | 0 Comments
Happy Birthday Dad! How old are you now? 35? 30? I guess it doesn't really matter. :)
I'm glad to say I've inherited many good traits from you, such as Type A driving, a love for weird German techno, and your quiet wittiness.
Your hard work is an inspiration to me and shows me that it's not alright to just give up.
You're amazing Dad. Can't wait to see you this weekend.

Roommies

As I mentioned earlier, the weather here has been... well, nothing short of amazing lately. So this past Sunday I dragged some victims with me down to Center Street and broke out my trusty Nikon.
I swear, after Vienna my camera must feel like it is being left to rot in the confines of my photography drawer.
Yes. I have one of those now.
And Yes, it sounds a lot cooler than it actually is.
Anyway, here are my faves from our little... "outing".

Bri (as you've seen many times, if you keep up with this thing). I swear this girl is 100 mph or nothing. I seriously envy her ability to fall asleep. It's basically an "on command" kind of thing she's got working for her.

Becca. The best Bella Swan I've ever met. She portrays the lack of emotions of the character perfectly. Plus she's pretty dang nice. And smart. :)

Cora. Cora, Cora, Cora. I am just smiling as I say her name in my head. That's the kind of person she is. She is hilarious. And the most amazing pair of training wheels I've ever had. But apart from this, she is quite the fun person to hang out with... and to obsess over Doctor Who with. Oh... David Tennant... oh goodness.. (P.S. I know the focus on this is slightly out of focus... but I love love love this so much! I know people can have mommy goggles when it comes to pictures of their kids that are slightly oof, but can I have... roommie goggles?)

While I do love this picture (I mean, look at how cute we are! How could you not like these cuties? Thanks Cora for the pic!), I really don't think it quite captures the true nature of our friendship....

Yep. That's more like it.

Warm

The weather here has been so beautiful lately. I just can't even get over it. I think my roommates have probably observed a noticeable change in my attitude lately. I will admit it. My moods are directly correlated with the weather. It's a sad truth, but a truth regardless. Hopefully (if only for the sake of my roommates) this weather is here to stay.

I can see this on the horizon:

Scheinheilig
Posted on Saturday, February 25, 2012 | 2 Comments
My goodness has it been a while. All my fans that I accrued over the life of this blog have probably disappeared over the last month or so since I've updated. Any one out there? Hello? Yep. Thought so.
So I guess this means I am addressing all comments to cyberspace. Or for future posterity. One of the two.
Um yes, anyway. Well let's just say my lack of posting is quite indicative of my busy schedule lately, in a negatively correlated kind of way. The more schoolwork, the less blogging. You get my point. I just used the words 'negatively correlated'. Can you tell I'm in a statistics class right now. Hence the lack of posting. Oh boy.
Speaking of boys, nope. Just kidding. Haha, got you there. But sadly there are none to be had. I guess I will insert the incredibly overused "I guess I'll die an old geezer with a million cats" joke. But it really is true. Can I get a little sympathy please? Or just a boy? Either of the two would work just fine.
 This semester I am taking:
1. Political Methodology
2. Intermediate Price Theory
3. German Literary Analysis
4. European History Since 1914
5. American Government and Politics

or as I refer to them:

1. The Life-Sucking Stats Class
2. The "I'm surprised I'm doing as well as I am" Class
3. The "I totally BS-ed this paper and you think it's excellent? All right!" Class
4. The Interesting Class
5. The Playing Pentrix on my iPhone During Class Class

And that about sums up my life. Those classes. Right there. Not much else to be said apart from them. There is the occasional trip to get ice cream, of course. I would cease to call myself Maddie if I did not have the occasional regular ice cream trip. Also, I would love people to know that I woke up four days in a row, before the crack of dawn, at 6:15 and went running. Just take that awesomeness in. Because I am definitely radiating it right now.
Also, I learned how to say sanctimoniously in German: scheinheilig. You are welcome.

Next week will be something like this... Stats midterm, here I come. Slowly... dreadfully... hating every moment that takes me closer to you. Bleh.
