Boston

Back in January Anna and I took a quick weekend trip to Boston. I knew I would think Boston was cool, but I did not expect how in LOVE with this city I would be after arriving there (and this is with two snow storms (minor, I will confess), and a 20 degree average the entire time we were there). Boston is just that great. All the charm and beauty of Europe, with all that great American convenience. Heaven, right? Or at least close to it...

Anyway, as usual, I will let the pictures speak for themselves:

Quincy Market

My friend Ashley was telling me that for a long time the ceiling in this area of Quincy Market was just a flat surface. After a while, they realized that this beautiful dome was hiding behind there, and so they restored it to it's original grandeur. I could wikipedia for dates and specifics, but I won't.

Faneuil Hall (Yes, it took me a few tries to pronounce it correctly. I like to think I'm a Faneuil-pronouncing pro now.)

I really liked the colors in this subway stop. Perhaps it's slightly dated, but I think it's still fun and definitely photo material. This would be really neat if it was taken with some old film camera. I am hipster enough to own one, but not hipster enough to have brought it with me on this trip, and certainly not hipster enough to know all the technical terms related to that field of photography. So I will continue to refer to it as "old film camera stuff."

Some gates at Harvard (which I failed, despite multiple attempts, to straighten in lightroom. After the third attempt, I (obviously) gave up).

The library at Harvard

Some finds while wandering around Boston while Anna (my traveling companion) was on one of her campus tours for Grad school.

And that's it! I went pretty light on the photos this time. Possibly (Definitely) because it was so cold I was only willing to take my hands out of my coat pockets as seldom as possible. It was still an excellent trip, despite the cold and (in retrospect) very mild snow storms.

St. Louis

I wish I was that type of person who could go on a trip, takes lots of gorgeous pictures, and then turn those photos around in a week. But I'm not, and chances are, I never will be. I'm too busy doing other things, like taking more photos... or finding odd props at the nearby thrift store. Or work, which regrettably has taken up most of my life lately. I will say, though, that the fruits of my labor are pretty great. I'll be honest, living alone is incredibly awesome and being able to completely provide for yourself is one of the most freeing feelings you could experience.
I ain't needin' nobody. Ya hear?!

That being said, I finally got around to going through my photos from the trip I took up to St. Louis for the Fourth of July weekend. I went up Thursday after work, and met up with some of my friends. We went to Forest Park and saw a couple of concerts and some really great fireworks (and some really interesting people in the crowd, as well. I bet you all can guess which concert-goer was my favorite). We also briefly stopped by the arch long enough for me to snap some photos before heading back to more concerts.

Gavin DeGraw

You guessed it. My concert goer of choice. Murica.

This photo cracks me up. Oh Chase...

Forest Park

Matt Nathanson, who was HILARIOUS, by the way. Even if you don't like his music, you should go to his concert. He is the funniest.

Sevilla

For our third day in Spain we decided to drive over to Sevilla for the day and explore the city. I wish we had had more time in Sevilla, as one day was definitely not enough to see everything the city had to offer. We started off by walking around the Plaza de España, which is a government building with intricate railings made of blue and white pottery and a beautiful mote-like pond surrounding it. It was definitely one of my favorite parts of Sevilla.

Sevilla Cathedral, below, is the largest Gothic cathedral and the third largest church in the world.

After the Plaza de España, we took a tour of the El Real Alcázar de Sevilla. It was a lot like the Alhambra in that there was also a lot of Moorish architecture in the buildings and surrounding gardens. It was a very serene place to walk around.

Here is another photo of Sevilla Cathedral, which is actually named the Cathedral of Saint Mary of the See. It is more commonly known as Sevilla Cathedral.

Inside, the church was huge which I know sounds dumb, as I've just said that it is the third largest church in the world. From the outside, however, the church seems like an average cathedral. As you walk in though, you truly feel like a tiny little ant. We visited the cathedral on a Sunday, so as we walked in we saw the service being held at the time. After we walked around for a bit, the choir started singing with the colossal organ as accompaniment. My favorite part about visiting churches is hearing music echoing around their halls.

The next town we visited was Marbella, where we got to spend a few days at the beach. I took over 700 photos there though, so wish me luck in tackling that!
