Captain Jack Sparrow the Cat
Posted on Saturday, March 30, 2013 | 0 Comments
When I was growing up we went to Las Vegas basically every summer to visit my dad's family. One year, a cat had left all its kittens in my aunt's sprinkler box. Thinking they were all girls, my parents volunteered to take one home with us (girl cats hunt mice and keep all those other pesky varmints out of the yard). Pirates of the Caribbean had just come out, and we thought the name Poppet, which is what the pirates call Elizabeth if you don't recall, would be cute. Turns out by the time we made it back to Arkansas little Poppet had become Captain Jack Sparrow the cat.

Cap'n Jack everyone:

Vegas

Back in February some friends and I went on a short girl's trip to Vegas. They don't give us many breaks here at BYU, so when a three day weekend rolls around, it seems like there's this mass exodus from Provo. We thought we'd join in on the fun and have ourselves our own early mini-Spring Break.

Hiking in Red Rock Canyon

I started experimenting reversing my nifty 50 and trying out some macros. This is a cactus.

Breaking the world record for the most hugs given to one person!

The Hoover Dam

The Dam Picture. Haha. Had to.

Today

January 1st the prompt was "today". I ended up taking photos of my mom's good friend's family that day, so I figured that counted, right?

We also got one of the daughter's to take a photo of the girls in my family. It's just crazy to me how fast we've all grown up. Especially that little girl in the middle.

Monday

Here's the story behind these: I just happened to be in a Communications class with my good friend Megan this semester (We go way back. Like way way back...). One day she turns to me and says "would you be interested in taking pictures of hot boys?" Hahaha. Is it even possible to say no to a question like that? Needless to say, of course I said yes, at which point she told me how she is helping a friend out with her fashion blog, GBO Fashion, and needs someone to take the photographs for her Menswear Monday segment. (You should take a look! She's got some pretty cute looks on her blog.)
Anyway, here are some of the photos I took for them:

The View from Here

Look at me! I'm on a roll of renewed posting! Here is another photo from my photo challenge in January. This is from January 4th. There's something about Arkansas in the winter (well let's be honest, there's something magical about Arkansas, always). People would probably think it's a pretty ugly place when all the leaves are gone and the state looks... well, a little bare. Ok, a lot bare. But the colors! I love the brown of the trunks that don't generally get a chance to be seen with the blue, blue sky in the background. It's just home.

Something New

I thought I would share a little of the photo challenge stuff I've been working on. I'm kind of stretching it with the prompt for January 2nd, but I still think it works. This is Eva. We got her for my mom for Mother's Day this past May. She IS the newest member of the household... so it works, right?

Something New:

Some day....

Some day I will have lots of time to update my blog, knit anything I want, cook a five course meal, and get straight A's.

But it is not this day.
Nor this semester apparently. It's already March! How the heck did that even happen? I graduate in a little over one month and then.......

Well I'm still working on that one.
Anywho, I thought I would sweep up a few cobwebs and post something on this lonely little blog. :)

Here's some photos from some photos I took of my roommates back in January:
